Remember when Kansas City had an NBA team? I didn’t think so.

Otis Birdsong on the left had a name ready made for PA announcers, who’d stretch out his last name in a kind of cascading musical tune.

This shot was actually a happy accident; I didn’t know what I had until we processed the film about an hour later. I only remembered seeing a kind of blur of arms in front of me as I shot with a 180mm on the floor. Somehow I managed to focus as the play occurred. I was so close to their action we didn’t need to crop the final print; this is full frame!
